I love showers! I guess it’s because they are “potential“! I stand in the shower and think of ALL the things I’ll do… knowing full well it’s impossible to do them right at that moment because I’m naked and wet and already doing something else: TAKING A SHOWER! While standing in the shower, I’m (almost) writing that letter, cleaning out that desk drawer, applying for that job, telling off that jerk and hanging up the phone… all while standing in the shower! Not really putting off all those things… just otherwise preoccupied at the moment.
I sat down in the shower once… just as an experiment (haven’t stood up to take a bath yet… a bit too avant-garde?!). It was actually a bi-cleansing experience: I put the plug in so the tub filled as the shower spilled… warming my lower body while hitting my topside. It was a combination of relaxing and exhilarating… somewhat confusing because baths are taken in the past tense… REFLECTION-MODE… whereby showers are taken in the future tense… MOTIVATION-MODE. Does it fuck you up to take a shower at night and a bath in the morning?! It seems like it should and would!… but I haven’t taken a bath since the 1960’s because I really prefer showers… I guess I’m partial to “potential”, huh?!
