A squeak of a voice
Arose from my kitchen
Its eyes wide open
Nose; it was twitchin’
There near the floor
To the left of the door
Was an entrance… or exit
I kneeled down to check it
And yes, from inside
Came the squeak of a noise
And in tiny mouse words
Came a tiny mouse voice
“Hello I live here
I work… I dream
But sometimes the sight of me
Makes people SCREAM!
I mind my own business
I don’t curse or smell
With a tail behind me
AND one to tell
A life to lead
A myth to dispel
Some call me a rodent
A nuisance
A pest
But I’m just a mouse
No more
No less
Trying to be happy
Doing my best
So today I’m speaking up
And it’s about time
I have nothing to hide
I’ve committed no crime
So today I’m speaking up
Hear my closet door slam?
I’m out in the open
I am gay! Gay I am!
Cheeze Whiz! That felt good!
So I’ll say it again
I’m out in the open
I am gay! Gay I am!
